My First Tomato!!

Friday, July 3, 2009

A few months ago, I detailed out my efforts for an upside-down tomato plant garden. Well, my efforts have not been in vain. I was initially disappointed when I only saw three tiny buds, one on each plant. Even then, I was unsure if any of them would completely mature, but I still held out hope...even after all of my pea plants dried out and wilted away.

I climb up on our patio chairs and water the plants. More often than not, Don waters them, but ever so often, I will jump up on there and water them, and attempt to give them a steady diet of liquid seaweed.

Over the course of the past few weeks, a mama turtledove made a nest and laid her eggs. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what happened, but she abandoned them and well, needless to say, they never hatched. :(

Anyway, here's my little guy, nice and ripe, ready for picking. It is the first tomato I've grown and is 100% organic. And do you see that little guy next to it? I didn't even notice that one growing the other day. Crazy!
It was succulent, delicious, and juicy! Oh, and my little habaneros are growing up a storm! There are six of them and a couple of them are very close to getting picked.
